Squirrel Island holds a community of around 100 summer cottages. Except for a few island trucks, there are no cars or bikes on the island - it is walking only! The origin of the name is not related to its squirrel population (which, in fact, is zero). It instead refers to the shape of the island which, when seen from above, resembles a squirrel holding an acorn... kind of.Â
Sid grew up spending a part of her summers on the island, and it was the site of our engagement in 2022! We are so excited to share its coastal beauty with you.
It's a 20-minute ferry trip from Boothbay Harbor to get to Squirrel island. We are organizing the ferries - check out the schedule for more details!
