A map of Squirrel island with cottage names and points of interest may be found here.
Your parking spot will be assigned to you 1 week prior to the wedding (if applicable). See the 'parking' page for your assigned spot.
If needed, you may stop by Pier 8 (Balmy Days Cruises) for a few minutes to unload your luggage just prior to your ferry time. Let the parking booth attendant know that you are there to unload luggage, then park in the Piet 8 'loading zone' spots (closest to the water).
Luggage is usually loaded onto the ferry by staff, but please ask if they need a hand. Your luggage should be securely packed in suitcases, boxes, crates, or duffels. Consider lining your luggage with a plastic bag if it is calling for heavy rain on the day of your arrival.
Please provide the group name Donaldson/Snook once on the ferry (family - we may give you a punch pass to use instead, other islanders - if possible, please use your own passes).
The ferry leaves from Pier 8 at the times above. We highly recommend leaving some 'buffer' time for any shopping, traffic, construction, border crossings. If you are running late and think you'll miss the last ferry, call us as soon as possible!
We're assuming most people will be on the 3:00PM ferry. Give us a heads up if you are coming in earlier so we can greet you when you arrive!
The Snook family will be hosting a welcome BBQ for everyone on Thursday night. There will be burgers, hot dogs, fruit/veg, soft drinks and snacks. We will have a limited number of alcoholic drinks available, so please BYOB as well!
We would love your help setting up our ceremony & reception venues! Feel free to join whenever you would like to. We'd also suggest taking some time to roam around and enjoy the island!
We have reserved the indoor restaurant space at McSeagull's Restaurant (one of our favourite local spots) for a casual dinner and some drinks on Friday evening. No dress code!
Since our group is quite large, we have worked with the owner to put together a special menu for our group. Meal choices and payment for dinner will be collected ahead of time. Alcoholic beverages will be paid for individually at the restaurant.
We will be taking the 5:40PM ferry into the harbor, and the 9:30PM ferry back to the island.
Island guests arriving Friday: You can take the 9:30PM ferry to the island with us!
(or earlier if discussed with us beforehand)
Meet up with our harbor guests and mingle at the Historical Hall while we finish taking photos! We will provide some drinks and light snacks.
At around 2:30PM, you will make your way from the Historical Hall to the ceremony location. Depending on the weather, you may wish to bring a jacket or umbrella!
Please be seated wherever you would like!
We'll head over to the Town Hall patio (or inside, depending on weather) to enjoy some drinks & munchies before dinner.
For drinks during the evening, the 'bar' will be completely open and stocked by us. There will be an assortment of soft drinks, a mixing station, buckets full of beer, bottles of red & white wine and several signature cocktails. As it is entirely self-serve, we just ask that you clean up after yourself. Bonus points if you help us replenish ice, cups and drinks as needed!
We'll eat some delicious food, have some more drinks, and listen to a few speeches!
Dinner will be a buffet-style taco/burrito bar (vegetarian & gluten-free options available).
Bring your best dance moves and get ready to party!
We'll wind the party down around 12:00AM to give everyone a chance to say goodbye before the last ferry leaves the island at 12:30AM.
Please bring your luggage down to the bottom dock at least 15 minutes prior to the ferry time. If you think you might need an earlier trip, please let us know as soon as possible!
If you want to stick around to help for any part of the day, we'd be forever in your debt! We'll be sticking around until Monday to do all of the wedding takedown and cleanup. This includes the cleaning of the Town Hall, the Historical Hall, as well as all of the cottages used during the weekend - there are no cleaners coming in after us!
Before you head out, it would make our job a million times easier if you could:
Do a surface clean of your cottage.
Collect garbage and consolidate into large bags.
Wash dishes and start dishwasher (if applicable)
Strip beds & consolidate your dirty towels.
Start a wash of either of the above (note - please don't start/use the dryer if no one will be in the cottage!)
Bonus points if you clean the floors or the bathrooms!
